Gotthard tunnel, a total length of 56.3 km, will be completed in a short time through the Swiss Alps. it is the longest tunnel in the world at present. The first passenger who want to take a train can apply for tickets to the Swiss Federal Railways, enjoying free train treatment. June 4 to 5, the new tunnel will usher in the first batch of visitors. On December 11, tunnel will be officially put into operation, every day there will be regular trains on this tunnel.
Gotthard tunnel has started building since 1999 , which has gone through 17 years. The railway tunnel called the “masterpiece” of engineering has broken a number of records: total length of 57 km, a maximum depth of 2300 meter. It is reported that the construction cost of the entire Gotthard tunnel is about $ 10.3 billion. The next few months, the train can be through the Alps in just 20 minutes.
